MCC Guatemala Threshold Program
The program in Guatemala will focus building institutional capacity to deliver key logistical infrastructure projects, which will unlock private sector investments and support potential U.S. regional investments.
About This Offer
The Millennium Challenge Corporation is an independent U.S. Government agency focused on unlocking growth through results-driven foreign assistance. MCC grants support large-scale infrastructure, strategic reforms, and economic modernization. MCC is unlocking growth: MCC’s singular focus on unlocking economic growth recognizes that prosperity is driven by trade, private sector growth, investments in innovation, and efficient markets. Our assistance programs catalyze private capital and champion market solutions, rather than encouraging dependency on foreign aid. To do this, MCC drives policy and institutional reforms that improve the management of public utilities and infrastructure, remove barriers to private sector competition, and modernize government administrative procedures. These reforms enable private sector investment, benefiting the overall economy. In Guatemala, the program in development aims to strengthen the country's capacity to implement public infrastructure projects to reduce logistical bottlenecks, lower transport costs, and improve conditions for private-sector investment—all priorities that would benefit U.S. businesses operating in the region. The program will strengthen Guatemala’s ability to deliver infrastructure that supports trade opportunities, including with the U.S. private-sector in Guatemala, including Citigroup’s interest in infrastructure financing, PepsiCo’s role in regional exports, and DHL and FedEx’s logistics operations.
